Employee Emergency Preparedness Fair 

Are you ready? Emergencies and disasters can happen at any moment. The Los Angeles 
Department of Transportation recognizes the importance of being prepared, and in partnership 
with the City’s Emergency Management Department is hosting a free Employee Emergency 
Preparedness Fair, Wednesday August 19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the CalTrans 
Building Plaza, 100 S. Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Collaborating city departments and 
Emergency Preparedness organizations will be on hand to provide demonstrations and 
valuable lifesaving information on preparedness. Now is the time to get ready LADOT! 

LADOT Hosts Australian Visitors 

LADOT hosted Western Australia officials, the Hon. Jim Chown, Parliamentary Secretary of 
Transport, and Paul Miles MLA, Deputy Minister for Commerce on their recent visit to Los 
Angeles. Their interest was learning best practices that could be applied in their state 
including transit services, and automation/synchronization to manage traffic congestion. A 
special thank you to Gordon Kam, Transportation Engineer Associate II, for the thorough and 
informative tour of our ATSAC Center.

Collision data shows that at the intersection of Chase St. and Tobias Ave. in Council District 6, 
there have been 14 pedestrian and bike accidents in the last 10 years. In response to this, the 
East Valley District worked to expedite installation of new continental crosswalks, limit lines 
and stop pavement markings. This work was completed by our crews, headed by crew chief 
Larry Fontana, over the past weekend. 

What We Do: LADOT Transit Store 

The LADOT Transit Store’s mission is to enhance the experience of riders from start to finish 
by providing up to the minute information on DASH, Commuter Express and Cityride services. 
The LADOT Transit Store answers over 50,000 annual requests for information and handles 
over 20,000 walk-in transactions, primarily the sale of LADOT Transit and METRO passes, trip 
tickets and stored value cards. The LADOT Transit Store sells over $2,000,000 of LADOT 
Transit and MTA fare media annually. They are centrally located in the Los Angeles Mall 
underneath City Hall East on Los Angeles St. in Downtown Los Angeles and open from 
6:30am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. Riders can also reach customer service agents for 
information the same days from 6:30am to 7:00 pm by calling 213, 310, 323, 626 or 818 area 
codes at 808-2273. 

Parking Adjudication Hearing Satisfaction Survey 

LADOT’s Parking Citation and Adjudication offices are now offering a customer satisfaction 
survey for all three Los Angeles locations. Upon completing an adjudication hearing, each 
respondent will be offered an online or paper survey, focusing on the quality of service 
provided. Our goal: provide excellent customer service to Angelenos. 

Free Bicycle Safety Classes Sponsored by Metro 

Metro will be offering free bicycle safety classes for all skill levels this weekend through 
September. Classes will be held all over the region - from Downtown L.A. to the San 
Fernando Valley. Register for any of the open classes here , or click here to view complete 
calendar details. Helmets, a bicycle light set, and an accompanying safety manual will be 
included. Must be 14 or older to attend.

Management and Project Development 

Since 1983, the Grants Management & Project Delivery group, currently under the leadership 
of Senior Transportation Engineer Carlos Rios, has secured over $800 million in grants for 
LADOT projects throughout Los Angeles. Watch t o learn more about how the group facilitates 
development of projects that meet the city’s objectives.
